Pairing Bluetooth headphones with Dreamie

Pairing Bluetooth headphones with Dreamie

Dreamie connects to wireless Bluetooth headphones so you can listen to your sleep routine privately. This guide covers how to pair most Bluetooth headphones and what to do if you run into trouble.

Before you start

A few things to know up front:

  • Most Bluetooth headphones will work with Dreamie. How you put them into pairing mode varies by manufacturer, so keep those instructions handy.
  • For the most stable connection, we recommend keeping your headphones exclusively paired with Dreamie. If your headphones are still paired to a phone or other device, that device can sometimes intercept the connection before Dreamie claims it.
  • Make sure your headphone firmware is up to date. Older firmware is a common cause of intermittent drops and connection issues. Use the manufacturer's companion app on your phone to check for updates before pairing with Dreamie.

Pairing steps

  1. If your headphones are already paired to your phone or another device, forget them there first. On iPhone, go to Settings > Bluetooth, tap the (i) next to your headphones, and tap Forget This Device. On Android, go to Settings > Connected devices, tap your headphones, and tap Unpair.
  2. Put your headphones into pairing mode per your manufacturer's instructions.
  3. On Dreamie, swipe up from the bottom of the screen to open the menu.
  4. Tap Bluetooth settings.
  5. Tap Connect new device. Your headphones should appear in the list within a few seconds.
  6. Select your headphones and confirm the pairing.
  7. Allow about 10 seconds for the connection to fully establish.

Confirming the connection

Once connected, a headphone icon appears on the Dreamie screen. That confirms audio is routing to your headphones.

To verify audio is working, play a sound from Ambience or Noise Mask. You should hear it through your headphones.

Troubleshooting

Headphones pair but no sound plays.

This is usually an audio-routing issue rather than a pairing issue. The most common cause is that your phone reclaims the connection after you pair.

  1. On Dreamie, forget the headphones in Bluetooth settings.
  2. On your phone, forget the headphones there as well.
  3. Put the headphones back into pairing mode and re-pair with Dreamie only.
  4. Wait for the headphone icon to appear on screen, then try playing a sound.

Headphones don't appear in the list.

  • Make sure they're in pairing mode, not just powered on. Most headphones require a specific action (holding a button, a tap pattern on the case, or a reset) to enter pairing mode.
  • Move them closer to Dreamie.
  • Confirm they aren't currently connected to another device. If they are, forget them from that device first.

Connection drops during the night.

  • Update your headphone firmware using the manufacturer's companion app. This resolves most stability issues.
  • Keep your headphones exclusively paired to Dreamie.
  • Charge your headphones fully every night.
  • Set your scene volumes to comfortable, moderate levels.

You want to re-pair from scratch.

If your headphones are acting up and you want a clean slate, forget them on Dreamie (Menu > Bluetooth settings), forget them on your phone, then start the pairing steps from the top.

Best practices

  • Charge your headphones every night so they're ready for use.
  • Keep them exclusively paired to Dreamie to avoid conflicts with your phone or other devices.
  • Keep headphone firmware up to date through the manufacturer's companion app.
  • Preview your scenes and alarm through your headphones before bed to make sure they're at a comfortable volume. We recommend listening at low volumes, especially with podcasts.
